How to Install the Stem Cap

Step 1 – Loosen things up Before touching the top cap, it’s recommended you loosen the two pinch bolts on the side of your stem. This takes pressure off the headset so the top cap can do its job properly. Tighten the top cap bolt until there’s no play in the headset, but the bars still turn smoothly. If you’ve got a torque wrench, 3–4 Nm is spot on.
WHAT’S INCLUDED:

Step 2 – Swap the cap Remove your old top cap and bolt. Pop your Crank Caps top cap into place and lightly tighten the top cap bolt. This bolt is only there to set headset tension, not to clamp everything down. Once the headset feels right, tighten the stem pinch bolts back up. Give the bars a quick check, and you’re good to send it clean.
