How to Install the Stem Cap
|
Step 1 – Loosen things up Before touching the top cap, it's recommended you loosen the two pinch bolts on the side of your stem. This takes pressure off the headset so the top cap can do its job properly. |
Step 2 – Swap the cap Remove your old top cap and bolt. Pop your new CrankCaps top cap into place and lightly thread in the new bolt. Don't tighten it yet – finger tight is fine for now. |

Step 3 – Set the tension Tighten the top cap bolt until there's no play in the headset, but the bars still turn smoothly. If you've got a torque wrench, 3–4 Nm is spot on. |
Step 4 – Lock it in & ride. Once the headset feels right, tighten your stem's pinch bolts back up. Give the bars a quick spin and you're good to send it clean. |
